Deadline for Submissions: Nov. 7, 2025 The Southern Gulf Islands Arts Council invites artists from the island communities of Galiano and Mayne to join in an exhibition and sale that will enhance the profile of participating artists while bringing together some of the region’s creative talent. This exhibition welcomes emerging and established artists to showcase one wall-hung artwork to share the creativity of these captivating islands with each other. Who can participate:
Artists with current 2025 membership in the Southern Gulf Islands Arts Council. Memberships are available online at www.artsontheislands.org/join.html.
Participating artists must live full-time or part-time in the Southern Gulf Island communities of Galiano or Mayne and be age 19 and older.
Eligible art forms include:
One 2-D work (wall-mounted): drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, photography, digital paintings, etc. No production date limitations are being imposed but we encourage you to show something that may have not been seen and represents your current practice.
All work must be suitable for viewing by all ages. The organizers reserve the right to exclude work that is deemed inappropriate for the setting and audience.
We respect intellectual property laws. Artwork must be original and may not make substantive use of another artist's work without their permission. This includes source imagery/photographs used for reference.
Size limitations: due to space constraints, wall-mounted works should be 24 inches or less in width (including frame), but we may have some flexibility if necessary. Please reach out if you have questions. [email protected] (for Galiano artists); [email protected] (Mayne artists).
Artwork must be ready to hang including hanging wire. Artwork that is not prepped for hanging directly on wall may be excluded.
Artists must be able to deliver their work to the home of the assigned Artist Coordinator on their island between Nov. 26 and 29. The volunteer coordinator(s) will deliver the artwork to the other island for installation on Dec. 1st or 2nd.
General Information
Artworks can be for sale or not.
Artists are responsible for shipping/delivery of any sold artwork to purchasers.
Artists will deal directly with purchasers via email.
Artwork will stay installed in the exhibition until it closes, unless a special request is made and artwork can be replaced with another work.

Submissions must be received before midnight on Nov. 7, 2026. KEY DATES Nov. 7, 2026: (midnight) submissions close.
