Art Studio Tours
A highlight of the pre-Christmas season, Mayne's annual Fall Studio Tour has been a popular event on the island for years. It affords an excellent opportunity to explore the island, peek inside the studios and workrooms of resident artists and artisans, view their wares, and perhaps even see them at work. It's also a great way to shop local and support the island's creative community.
The next Mayne Fall Studio Tour takes place November 12, 13 & 14, 2021. Further details will be available closer to the date, including both an interactive online map and printed brochure featuring the list of participating artists/artisans .
We are also looking forward to launching a Mayne Spring Studio Tour on the Easter long weekend, April 15-17, 2022.
Mayne Community Arts Funding
Funding in the form of small grants is often available from various sources to help support local cultural initiatives. If you have an idea for an event, workshop, or some other activity that will contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Mayne Island, we encourage you to apply. In the past, performances and learning opportunities for all ages in a variety of disciplines have received funding (whole or in part), including Life Drawing sessions, in-school arts programs for children, poetry events, and multi-age arts workshops. We look forward to hearing from you!
Arts on Mayne is the Mayne Island Branch of the Southern Gulf Islands Arts Council. It is an active group that organizes art exhibitions, multi-disciplinary events, and the island's annual Studio Tour. It also supports community arts programming through the disbursement of small grants.
